Job summary

Atlas Copco Group in Delanco, NJ seeks a hands-on Workshop Manager to oversee daily workshop operations and service partners, balancing technical leadership with strong team planning. You’ll supervise technicians, coordinate maintenance tasks, and drive safety and quality standards.

The role requires a mechanical/electrical/automotive engineering background, plus 2+ years in a workshop setting. Occasional travel to sites and partners is expected; on-site work is required in Delanco, NJ.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering (or equivalent).
• 2+ years of experience in a workshop environment; supervisory experience is a plus.
• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including maintenance and repair practices.
• Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
• Strong problem solving and decision making skills.
• Proficiency in workshop management software and tools.
• Certifications (Preferred).
• Relevant trade certifications in mechanical or electrical fields.
• Health and Safety Certification (e.g.. OSHA, NEBOSH)

Responsibilities

• Plan and prioritize daily activities, repair schedules, and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure timely completion of projects.
• Coordinate the allocation of resources, including manpower, tools, and equipment to meet operational needs.
• Lead, manage, and motivate a team of skilled technicians, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, and training to enhance the skills and performance of team members.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and address performance issues promptly.
• Enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, company policies, and regulatory standards.
• Conduct routine safety inspections and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks.
• Monitor work quality to ensure repairs and maintenance meet required standards.
• Manage inventory of tools, equipment, and spare parts, ensuring availability while minimizing costs.
• Liaise with internal customers and other stakeholders to provide updates on job progress and timelines.
