Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC in Hawthorne, CA leads the Starship Mechanisms team. The Welding Supervisor will guide a team of technicians and welders to build large stainless-steel structures and oversee multi-shift operations, safety, and quality.

The role requires 2+ years in leadership, a high school diploma, and aerospace assembly experience preferred. You will manage schedules, training, and continuous improvement while meeting production targets.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• 2+ years in a leadership role.
• Bachelor's degree or 5+ years in assembly/production in aviation, aerospace, or military.

Responsibilities

• Oversee two shifts of Starship's main sheet metal and assembly build center.
• Lead a team of ~30 welders and technicians; manage performance.
• Foster a collaborative, safe, and productive shop floor culture.
• Monitor labor hours and overtime; implement improvement plans.
• Identify training needs and develop training programs.
• Report on efficiency and utilization metrics to improve output.
• Report on quality metrics and address root causes of workmanship issues.
• Implement machine maintenance schedules and ensure uptime.
• Organize and track multi-shift work and deliverables.
• Maintain tooling and consumables inventory.
• Improve area safety and efficiency through regular auditing.
