Qualifications

  • Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Hands-on welding experience in a production/fabrication setting.
  • Experience in metal fabrication or contract manufacturing.
  • Strong understanding of welding processes, weld quality, fit-up, welding symbols, and production requirements.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and hold employees accountable.
  • Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills to resolve production and quality issues.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and changing production demands.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, work instructions, and production schedules.
  • Proficiency with basic computer programs and manufacturing systems.
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of a manufacturing role.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and support welding employees to promote teamwork, accountability, safety, quality, and high performance.
  • Coordinate daily welding activities to align with production schedules and customer requirements.
  • Supervise employees, assign work, and ensure necessary training, equipment, and resources are available.
  • Oversee daily welding operations per procedures, work instructions, weld requirements, and production standards.
  • Promote and enforce safety policies to maintain a safe, clean welding environment.
  • Ensure welded products meet customer specs and quality standards; address weld quality concerns.
  • Monitor welding processes, including MIG, robotic welding, fit-up, and proper equipment use.
  • Track production flow, staffing, materials, and equipment to minimize downtime.
  • Identify and resolve production issues, bottlenecks, and quality problems with cross-department collaboration.
  • Drive continuous improvement to safety, quality, productivity, efficiency, and scrap reduction.
  • Train and develop welding staff, including cross-training opportunities.
  • Provide regular performance feedback and address attendance and behavioral concerns fairly.
  • Manage multiple priorities and changing demands while focusing on safety and production goals.
  • Maintain clear communication with management, production control, engineering, and maintenance.
  • Coordinate with fabrication, engineering, and quality to maintain efficient workflow.
