Description:

Gray’s Specialty Equipment segment offers a comprehensive range of expert services to design, manufacture, integrate, install, and maintain some of the most advanced systems on the market. The Specialty Equipment segment includes Anderson Dahlen, located in Ramsey, MN, and Waconia, MN. Anderson Dahlen delivers end-to-end equipment design-build and contract manufacturing, with precision fabrication – cutting, forming, machining, welding, finishing, and complex assemblies – backed by engineering, integration, and complete process solutions including skids and sanitary platforms tailored to customer applications. Anderson Dahlen is ISO 9001:2015 certified, as well as ASME, AWS, and PED compliant.

The wage range for this role takes into account a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, certifications, as well as other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $30-$40/hour.

  • Weekend shift: work hours are 3/12 hour days, Friday-Sunday, 15% shift differential

POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for assisting the supervisor with designated weld personnel to ensure we consistently meet our customer specifications and quality expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the supervisor in an effort to schedule personnel and workload.
  • Keeps the supervisor informed of important developments, potential problems, and related information necessary for effective supervision.
  • Provides optimum cooperation and complete information to the supervisor and other personnel, relative to projects within his/her assigned group, to ensure on-time and accurate job completion.
  • Develops, maintains, and portrays a high degree of professionalism and technical competence within the organization, encouraging excellence through example.
  • Recommends measures to improve productivity and quality.
  • Continually works to improve the company’s efficient use of material, capital, and human resources.
  • Make recommendations as required or necessary for new equipment and supplies.
  • Responsible for training employees along with the supervisor, communicating quality plans, and activities as appropriate, to ensure a coordinated work effort and “team” approach. Periodically giving input to the supervisor on appraising performance, addressing complaints, and resolving problems with the supervisor.
  • Performs related work as apparent or assigned.
  • Provides problem-solving support, clarification of process performance requirements, and ensures assigned personnel are adequately prepared for the timely and successful completion of projects.
  • Functions as a technical resource for the project weld department and, as such, is consistently able to communicate clearly and effectively with both technical personnel and non-technical personnel in an appropriate and understandable manner.
  • Works from drawings, sketches, welding symbols, specifications, and instructions to plan work in proper operational sequence and determine methods and techniques to be applied.
  • Welds all types of materials in structural and sheet metal sizes and shapes, utilizing a full range of welding processes, gas metal arc welding (GMAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), plasma, and oxyacetylene cutting, along with brazing.
  • Creates locating fixtures and measuring devices as required, fits and positions parts in accordance with drawing specifications.
  • Performs welding tasks daily using care to lay a smooth bead, obtains proper penetration and fusion, displays ability to manage distortion of weldments, detects defective material, unusual conditions or operating difficulties and report it to the supervisor.
  • Attends and completes training as required.
  • Complies with Company and Department policies and procedures as applicable.
  • Keeps up to date on new technology and other advancements relating to Welding.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong math.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand tools, measuring instruments, and operate all welding equipment, including machine settings for various welding processes.
  • Ability to work on intricate welding processes, both hand and machine, to develop complex fabrications to closely prescribed standards.
  • Ability to perform some fixturing and set-up as required.
  • Ability to relate well to others and gain the respect of co-workers.
  • Ability to work independently or with others.
  • Good communication skills.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
  • The lead will assume the responsibilities on the shop floor when the supervisor is not in the shop.
