Job summary

Metalcraft of Mayville, Inc. in West Bend, WI, is seeking a 1st Shift Welding Department Lead to oversee both manual and robotic welding in the Scag Welding area. Reporting to the Department Supervisor, you will lead welders, ensure parts meet specifications, and keep the shift running smoothly.

The ideal candidate will read blueprints, drive continuous improvement, and maintain safety, quality and productivity standards. Strong communication and teamwork across departments are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Understanding of welding fundamentals
• Basic welding experience or training
• Basic knowledge of Mig Welding Equipment
• Successful completion of internal weld test
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to lead a team and coordinate with other departments
• Read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols
• Basic computer knowledge
• Willing to work across weld department as needed
• Associates degree preferred for lead role

Responsibilities

• Assist the Supervisor in directing the work activities of the welders and oversee both manual and robotic weld departments.
• Work with robotic and manual welders to ensure parts are made correctly and schedule is followed.
• Maintain department organization, cleanliness, safety, and cost-improvement initiatives.
• Read job specifications to determine welding type and material requirements; use equipment per standards.
• Perform preventative maintenance on equipment and keep work area safe and orderly.
• Support continuous improvement and cross-department communication.
• May perform other related duties as production needs require.
