Delta Dental of Iowa invites applications for a Lead or Senior Software Developer to contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of software solutions that support our healthcare insurance operations. Qualifications

• Associate degree in CS/IS or related field with 5+ years of app development experience.
• Experience with Java-based web technologies & frameworks.
• Advanced SQL and relational DB design.
• Hands-on experience with version control (Git).
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision under deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information and HIPAA compliance.
• Excellent communication across technical and non-technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, HIPAA-compliant software solutions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical specs.
• Mentor developers and participate in code reviews and architecture discussions.
• Drive estimation and backlog refinement to support predictable delivery.
• Evaluate third-party technologies and integrate where appropriate.
• Support cloud migration, DevOps practices, CI/CD, and IaC.
• Ensure performance, security, and compliance with proactive monitoring.
• Create clear technical documentation and system diagrams.
• Provide on-call support when necessary.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
