Job summary

GEI Consultants, Inc. is seeking an experienced Waterfront Engineer with commercial diving expertise to join our waterfront/coastal team. The role can be based in Bloomfield, NJ; NYC, NY; or Huntington Station, NY, with leadership responsibilities across the Metro-NYC area and beyond.

You will lead inspection, design and development of coastal and waterfront projects, supervise dive teams, and support new client relationships while mentoring junior staff.

Qualifications

• Professional Engineer license in NJ or NY or eligible for reciprocity.
• 5+ years of experience with waterfront project design, inspections, and construction monitoring.
• 5+ years of professional diving experience.
• Proficiency with dive safety, safety plans, and watercraft operation.
• BS or MS in Civil/Structural Engineering; valid driver’s license; ADCI diving certifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead ADCI dive teams and perform underwater inspections and construction monitoring.
• Lead project initiation phases, including proposals and safety plan development.
• Conduct land-based construction monitoring and field activities.
• Prepare technical reports, permits, and designs for waterfront projects.
• Mentor and develop junior staff.
