Job summary

The City of Fort Worth is seeking a Safety Specialist to advance a proactive safety culture across water and wastewater operations. You will assess hazards, investigate incidents, develop safety programs, and train staff to protect over 1,000 employees.

Ideal candidates bring construction safety or utility experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently while enforcing safety standards that support drinking water and wastewater infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Safety Management or related field.
• 3+ years of safety and health audits/inspections experience.
• Valid Driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

• Lead utility-wide safety and environmental health projects and train Water personnel.
• Research and interpret safety standards and determine impact on the utility.
• Oversee divisional safety audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Develop and deliver effective safety training across the utility.
• Analyze illness, injury, and vehicle incident data and prepare reports.
• Manage data/reporting software systems and contribute to procedures and SOPs.
• Lead workgroups drafting operating procedures and participate in design reviews.
• Represent Fort Worth Water’s safety interests in industry groups.
• Coordinate safety drills and emergency response exercises.
