Job summary

Orange County Sanitation District seeks a Lead Plant Operator to oversee the most complex operations, ensuring regulatory compliance and safe, efficient plant performance. You will plan outages, coordinate major maintenance shutdowns, and provide clear guidance to field staff during critical construction activities.

The role requires a Grade IV California wastewater license, 5+ years of plant operations experience, a high school diploma/GED, and a valid California Driver’s License.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED supplemented by college level coursework or specialized training in wastewater treatment plant operations or a related field.
• Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in wastewater treatment plant operations.
• Valid Grade IV California Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Certificate.
• Valid California Class C Driver's License

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute construction outages and major maintenance shutdowns to include complex shutdown activities.
• Provide written outage and LOTO procedures to operations staff.
• Oversee construction related field activities including CIP design/construction meetings and O&M planning meetings.
