Job summary

Westfield Veterinary Group in Union, NJ is seeking an experienced Lead Veterinary Technician / Outpatient Supervisor to guide our clinical team. This leadership role focuses on outpatient workflow, training, and ensuring compassionate, high-quality patient care.

You will support appointments, diagnostics, and hospital operations while fostering an organized, collaborative work environment and mentoring junior technicians and assistants.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of veterinary technician experience in a clinical setting.
• Leadership, supervisory, or lead technician experience preferred.
• Strong outpatient, treatment, and patient-care skills.
• Experience training, mentoring, or supporting the development of teammates.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily outpatient workflow to ensure appointments, treatments, and patient care run smoothly.
• Coordinate technician and assistant assignments based on patient needs and hospital priorities.
• Provide hands-on training, coaching, and mentorship to veterinary technicians and assistants.
• Support onboarding and help develop team members' clinical skills and confidence.
• Monitor workflow, identify improvement opportunities, and maintain efficient operations.
• Communicate with veterinarians and leadership to address patient care needs and workflow challenges.
• Promote teamwork, accountability, and adherence to hospital protocols.
• Ensure accurate medical records and up-to-date treatment plans.
