Job summary

New England Veterinary Center & Cancer Care in Windsor, CT is seeking an experienced Veterinary Technician Supervisor to lead daily technician operations, support high-quality patient care, and foster strong communication among technicians, doctors, and hospital leadership.

The ideal candidate will mentor staff, oversee anesthesia monitoring, emergency and specialty patient care, and help ensure efficient workflows.

Qualifications

• Licensed/Certified Veterinary Technician preferred
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in ER or Specialty medicine
• Previous supervisory, leadership, or mentoring experience needed
• Advanced knowledge of emergency nursing, anesthesia, patient monitoring, and critical care preferred
• Ability to remain calm and organized in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
• Strong commitment to patient advocacy, teamwork, and continued learning

Responsibilities

• Provide daily leadership, guidance, and support to veterinary technicians and assistants across multiple shifts
• Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and compassion
• Mentor team members through coaching, education, and hands-on support
• Assist with onboarding, training, and competency development of new employees
• Participate in performance feedback and help identify opportunities for team growth
• Emergency, General Practice & Specialty Patient Care: Support technicians in providing exceptional care for critical, hospitalized, and specialty patients
• Emergency, General Practice & Specialty Patient Care: Ensure appropriate technician workflow during high-volume emergency periods
• Emergency, General Practice & Specialty Patient Care: Assist with prioritizing patient care needs and maintaining efficient patient flow
• Emergency, General Practice & Specialty Patient Care: Promote excellence in anesthesia monitoring, emergency procedures, medication administration, nursing care, and patient comfort
• Hospital Operations: Collaborate closely with veterinarians, managers, and leadership to improve hospital efficiency and patient outcomes
• Hospital Operations: Monitor compliance with medical protocols, safety procedures, and quality standards
• Hospital Operations: Assist with maintaining appropriate staffing levels and shift coverage
• Hospital Operations: Help identify workflow challenges and implement solutionsEnsure treatment areas, equipment, and supplies are maintained and ready for patient care
• Hospital Operations: Promote accurate medical record documentation and adherence to hospital policies
• Communication & Client Experience: Encourage strong communication between technicians, doctors, reception teams, and clients
• Communication & Client Experience: Support technicians in providing compassionate updates and education to pet owners
• Communication & Client Experience: Help create a consistent, positive client experience during stressful emergency situations
• Communication & Client Experience: Serve as a resource and role model for professional communication and bedside manner
