Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
I am working with a forward-thinking, technology-enabled veterinary group seeking a Lead Veterinarian to head up their Culver City, CA GP and UC facility.
Opened in November 2022, this purpose-built, state-of-the-art hospital was designed with both pets and practitioners in mind. The clinic offers both General Practice and Urgent Care services and is fully equipped with six spacious exam rooms, a dedicated surgical suite, dental suite, expansive treatment area, private doctor offices, and a large conference room used regularly for CE, mentorship, and clinical training. There’s also a well-appointed breakout room and kitchen to ensure the team has space to recharge during the day. The environment is modern, thoughtfully designed, and powered by an in-house technology platform that significantly reduces administrative burden and streamlines record keeping.
This is a leadership opportunity suited to a DVM who thrives in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment. With an 8-DVM team (and capacity to grow to 11), supported by approximately 21 veterinary nurses and assistants, working at a minimum of 2:1 support-to-DVM ratio on wellness/preventative care, the infrastructure is already strong.
The clinic operates seven days per week, but as Lead Veterinarian you’ll benefit from a flexible 4-day schedule (Monday–Thursday or Tuesday–Friday options available), with approximately 10% of your time protected for administrative leadership, mentorship, and doctor development. Appointments are 30 minutes, with an average of 16 pre-booked cases per day, allowing you to focus on quality medicine and meaningful client interactions.
This role would suit a veterinarian with strong business acumen, ideally someone who has managed teams or multiple sites, who is energized by building, mentoring, and driving both medical excellence and clinic performance. You’ll lead by example clinically while fostering a supportive, blame-free culture that prioritizes sustainability in the profession.
With a base salary ranging from $170,000–$200,000, quarterly bonus enhancements, eligibility for a Lead Doctor Bonus based on clinic performance, and equity opportunities comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, vision, CE allowance, paid leave, and more.
