Job summary
Realta Fusion seeks a Staff Mechanical Engineer, Vacuum Systems to provide technical leadership in designing and developing ultra-high vacuum systems for the Hammir-DD platform in Madison, WI. You will mentor engineers, work with physicists and technicians, and drive complex vacuum technology projects from concept through validation.
The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration, design reviews, and documentation, with a focus on reliability, safety, and integration with cryogenic and gas
Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of work experience.
- Experience in 3D CAD design and vacuum pump technologies.
- Ability to leverage FEA tools (ANSYS/COMSOL) to solve problems.
- Leadership and mentoring of junior engineers.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with physicists, scientists, engineers, and staff to develop vacuum technologies.
- Design and model ultra-high vacuum pumping, diagnostics, bakeout, sealing, and vessels.
- Establish UHV best practices, contamination control, and leak detection.
- Lead design reviews and generate technical documentation.
- Interface with facilities for cryoplant and gas delivery systems.
- Supervise and direct activities of small technical teams.
