Job summary

The City of Cedar Park is seeking a senior utilities engineer to supervise the Utility Divisions, oversee water and wastewater treatment, and ensure regulatory compliance with TCEQ and EPA. The role leads capital improvement programs, coordinates daily operations, and provides engineering support for system optimization.

Candidates hold a PE in Texas or ability to obtain within one year, a civil/environmental/related degree, and 4+ years in water/wastewater, with supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, industrial, electrical, or mechanical engineering.
• 4+ years of experience in water and wastewater utility or consulting engineering, including 1 year in supervision.
• Valid Texas driver’s license and Texas PE licensure (or ability to obtain within 1 year).

Responsibilities

• Supervises assigned Utility Divisions and staff, including performance evaluations and hiring decisions.
• Coordinates daily operations among water treatment, water reclamation, water distribution, and wastewater collection.
• Provides advanced engineering and operational support for water and wastewater facilities.
• Ensures regulatory compliance with TCEQ, EPA and other agencies.
• Oversees SCADA process control and operator training.
• Conduct hydraulic analyses, field inspections, and technical reviews of plans and designs.
• Manages utility capital improvement projects and stakeholder coordination.
• Evaluates utility system needs and recommends improvements.
