Job Summary:


The Lead Universal Banker is responsible for overseeing the efficiency and functioning of the teller area. This position will also manage Universal Bankers in their assigned branch while also providing excellent customer service and identifying Bank products to best meet the needs of customers.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:



  • Supervise Universal Bankers in assigned branch.

  • Maintain sufficient, skilled retail staff by scheduling appropriate employees and providing ongoing training and cross-training opportunities.

  • Collaborate with Branch Manager/Market Manager to conduct timely and constructive performance evaluations.

  • Assist with the Branch audit of internal control systems and procedures.

  • Verify important information including endorsements, dates, and identification to cash or deposit checks and pay out funds.

  • Conduct various banking transactions, including cash checks, accept deposits, and issue customer receipts.

  • Prepare, verify, and issue cashier's checks and money orders.

  • Balance cash drawer daily according to established procedures and report any teller cash differences immediately to the direct supervisor.

  • Prepare monies for external shipment.

  • Balance all vaults at end of day.

  • Refer and solicit consumer loans other banking products/services as well as open new accounts.

  • Maintain IRA and HSA product knowledge, open IRA and HSA accounts, and act as a retail contact person regarding IRA and HSA accounts.

  • Answer Branch phones and assist customers.

  • Update customer and account information and complete all associated paperwork.

  • Refer and solicit consumer loans and other banking products/services.

  • Attend and contribute to staff and Bank meetings.

  • Demonstrate a helpful, friendly, and team-player attitude.

  • Follow established security protocol including proper robbery/hold-up procedures.

  • Maintain the teller area to ensure the safety of all negotiable instruments and confidential records.

  • Travel to other locations as needed.

  • Work varying schedules based on branch hours including the Saturday rotation.

Qualifications

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:



  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Thorough understanding of customer service and Bank products/services.

  • Ability to remain friendly and calm in stressful situations.

  • Above average knowledge of fundamental mathematics.

  • Ability to be trustworthy and act with integrity.


Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications:



  • High school diploma or recognized equivalent required.

  • 1+ years of customer service experience required.

  • Retail sales experience preferred.

  • Cash handling and transactional experience preferred.

  • Management experience preferred.

  • Experience in a professional financial environment preferred.

  • Bi-lingual preferred.


Equipment/Software:



  • Ability to operate general office equipment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
