About the Role

This position within FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp., is responsible for serving as the chief agent in labor relations, negotiations, and administration of labor programs. The Lead Negotiator collaborates with union and business leaders to align labor relations with company values, policies, and procedures. Responsibilities include overseeing negotiation teams, interpreting contract language, managing collective bargaining agreements, and supporting management in labor-related issues.

Responsibilities:
  1. Negotiating collective bargaining agreements
  2. Managing grievance and arbitration processes
  3. Administering labor agreements and advising management on compliance
  4. Maintaining positive relationships with union leadership
  5. Providing advice on employee relations activities
  6. Ensuring policy alignment during negotiations
  7. Overseeing employee communications and training
  8. Supporting Diversity, Equity & Inclusion initiatives
  9. Ensuring legal compliance with laws such as the National Labor Relations Act
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field; JD or master's preferred
  • Minimum 7 years of labor relations experience, including chief spokesperson roles
  • Experience in HR, employee relations, employment law, and contract negotiations
  • Proven leadership and arbitration case preparation skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to interpret legal and contractual language for management
  • Proficiency in HRIS, MS Office, and Outlook
