Job summary

Catholic Mutual Group in Omaha, NE is seeking an Underwriting Manager to lead our multi-line underwriting operations, evaluate new and renewal business, approve risk and pricing decisions, and support profitable growth through strong leadership.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years in property and casualty underwriting, supervisory experience, and CPCU/AU designations. Excellent communication and analytical skills are essential for mentoring staff and collaborating with partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible property and casualty underwriting experience and managing a book of business.
• Three years of supervisory experience strongly preferred.
• CPCU and/or AU designation highly preferred.
• Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a leadership role.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee the daily activities of the multi-line underwriting department.
• Review and analyze new business submissions and renewal opportunities.
• Approve risk selection, acceptance, coverage recommendations, and pricing decisions.
• Manage underwriting performance and support profitable book of business growth.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and technical expertise to underwriting staff.
• Evaluate complex risks and make informed underwriting decisions based on company guidelines.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal departments and external service partners.
• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of underwriting policies and procedures.
