Job summary

Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of underwater archaeological field procedures.
  • Knowledge of state & federal submerged cultural resource law.
  • Experience with remote sensing software/hardware.
  • Ability to communicate clearly (verbal & written).
  • Master’s degree may substitute for years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Underwater Archaeology section (Bureau of Archaeological Research).
  • Manage a team of up to five Career Service and OPS employees; handle timesheets, leave, hiring, discipline, and work plans.
  • Oversee underwater field projects ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Administer the Exploration and Recovery permit program (1A-31, F.A.C.).
  • Represent the Department at meetings and serve as primary contact with agencies and the public.
  • Conduct and coordinate research on state lands focusing on submerged resources; manage vessels and equipment.
