Cumberland County, PA is seeking an experienced Assistant District Attorney to represent the Commonwealth in prosecutions within the County. This is a full-time, exempt position reporting to the District Attorney and senior staff.

The role requires a Juris Doctor and PA Supreme Court admission, 7+ years of relevant experience including trial leadership, and the ability to mentor staff attorneys. The office emphasizes public service and ongoing education.

Qualifications

• Juris doctor degree and admission to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.
• Some computer training helpful.
• Continuing legal education required.

Responsibilities

• Assists police in the investigation of criminal offenses.
• Provides legal opinions to police relative to investigations.
• Conducts legal research and writes opinions thereon.
• Advises police on the drafting of criminal complaints, search warrants and statements of probable cause.
• Evaluates evidence relative to propriety of criminal charges and search warrants.
• Represents the Commonwealth in the prosecution of cases at preliminary hearings and trials.
