NEW MEXICO BEHAVIORAL HEALTHCARE LL is seeking a Medical Transportation Driver to safely transport patients and medical products. You will ensure patient safety, assist with mobility, maintain vehicle readiness, and follow HIPAA guidelines.

Responsibilities include adhering to schedules, communicating with medical staff, and keeping detailed journey records while maintaining vehicle cleanliness and safety.

Qualifications

  • Clean driving record and proven driving experience.
  • Ability to assist patients with mobility.
  • Excellent knowledge of local routes and traffic patterns.
  • Good physical health and stamina to lift and support patients’ weight if needed.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Transporting patients from homes to medical facilities and back.
  • Assisting patients in embarking and disembarking the vehicle.
  • Ensuring the vehicle has necessary supplies.
  • Check vehicles for safety issues and perform minor maintenance tasks.
  • Adhering to the scheduled patient pickups and drop-offs.
  • Maintain records of journeys including locations and times.
  • Ensuring patient safety and comfort during transport.
  • Adhere to traffic and safety laws.
  • Communicate with medical staff about patient needs.
  • Comply with health and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Handle emergencies per protocols.
  • Report incidents to supervisor immediately.
  • Clean and sanitize the vehicle after each transport.
  • Respect patient privacy and HIPAA guidelines.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Plant Operations, the Medical Transportation Drivers are responsible for transporting patients or medical products safely and efficiently. They must adhere to all traffic laws, maintain cleanliness of the vehicle, and ensure the safety of the patients or products they transport.

Essential Duties
  • Transporting patients from their homes to medical facilities and back.
  • Assisting patients in embarking and disembarking the vehicle.
  • Ensuring the vehicle is equipped with necessary supplies.
  • Check vehicles regularly for safety issues and perform minor maintenance tasks such as topping up fuel.
  • Adhering to the assigned schedule for patient pick-ups and drop-offs.
  • Maintain accurate records of each journey, including pick-up and drop-off locations, times, and patient information.
  • Ensuring the safety and comfort of the patient during transportation.
  • Adhere to all traffic and safety laws.
  • Communicating with medical staff about patient’s condition and needs.
  • Complying with health and safety regulations and procedures.
  • Handling emergency situations in accordance to protocols.
  • Report any incidents or accidents to the supervisor immediately.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing the vehicle after each transport.
  • Respecting patient privacy and confidentiality as per HIPAA guidelines.
Requirements/Specific Knowledge and Skills
  • Proven experience as a driver with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to assist patients with mobility issues.
  • Excellent knowledge of local routes and traffic patterns.
  • Good physical health and stamina to lift and support patients’ weight if needed.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
LICENSES/DESIGNATIONS/CERTIFICATIONS:
  • CPR and de-escalation certification required (training available upon hire and offered by facility).
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to one hundred (100) pounds.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work remotely and report to the facility once a month.
  • Must be able to push and pull up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Must be able to travel and drive vehicle.
  • Environmental Tolerance weather conditions varies.
