Job summary

City of Fort Wayne is seeking a Project Manager for Transportation Engineering Services to oversee planning through construction and inspection of traffic signals, street lighting, and related infrastructure.

You'll collaborate with City departments, contractors, INDOT and other agencies to review plans, coordinate permits, manage right-of-way documents, and respond to community concerns, ensuring projects move safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited program with 2 years PM experience, or
• BS in Civil Engineering Technology or related field with 4 years PM experience, or
• AS in Civil Engineering Technology or related field with 8 years PM experience, or
• Twelve years of progressively responsible public works engineering design experience

Responsibilities

• Manages large, more complicated Civil projects including consultant-designed work.
• Develops project plans with design, estimate, schedule and provisions and prepares bid documents.
• Conducts pre-bid and pre-construction meetings with contractor and agencies.
• Maintains on-call status for public emergencies.
• Requests purchase and work orders for funding of street projects.
• Manages material records and quantities constructed for invoice verification and payment.
• Authorizes contractor payments, approves change orders, and prepares final project documentation.
• Develops right-of-way engineering plans and assists with right-of-way documents.
• Maintains knowledge of INDOT, FHA, AASHTO rules and acts as liaison for funded projects.
• Interacts with the public, City officials and outside agencies professionally.
