Job summary

Avangrid is seeking a Principal Engineer - Transmission Planning to provide technical leadership on complex projects with broad business impact. You will mentor engineers, liaise with contractors on policy and standards, and work with little supervision in an office setting in Augusta, ME or Portland, ME.

The role requires a BSEE with 10+ years of experience, strong knowledge of NERC/NPCC standards, and proficiency in PSSE, TARA and ASPEN.

Qualifications

• BSEE required with consideration for advanced degrees or PE.
• 10+ years of industry experience in transmission planning.
• Strong knowledge of planning criteria, regulatory standards and tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead reliability and economic studies across voltage levels.
• Analyze complex transmission systems and document results.
• Mentor team members and collaborate with internal/external stakeholders.
• Apply planning standards and use PSSE/TARA/ASPEN software.
• Engage in site inspections, workshops and industry groups.
