Job summary

Weiss-Aug in East Hanover, NJ is seeking a skilled Tool & Die Maker to construct, alter, and repair dies, jigs, and gauges to very tight tolerances. You will develop strategies for fabricating designed dies and ensure products meet quality standards.

The role requires a four-year apprenticeship and 4+ years related experience; you will work with precision measuring instruments and shop mathematics to achieve exacting results. Hours are 2pm–10:30pm with a competitive hourly wage.

Qualifications

• Completion of a three or four-year apprentice program.
• Minimum of four years related experience.
• Ability to use shop mathematics, handbook of geometric and trigonometric formulas.
• Work from operative sheets, drawings and sketches and use precision measuring instruments.
• Thorough knowledge of machine shop practices and mechanics.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the design of complex high-speed progressive dies.
• Build dies from conceptual drawings or layouts.
• Schedule and supervise lesser skilled tool makers on projects.
• Diagnose and correct problems in complicated tools and dies.
• Use machining resources to fabricate dies within tight tolerances.
• Inspect parts to blueprints and ensure adherence to tolerances.
