Job summary

The Goddard School of Houston (The Greater Heights) is seeking a passionate Lead Toddler Teacher for ages 1.5 to 2. This full-time role is scheduled Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 5:00pm, in a new and supportive school environment.

You will lead daily activities, implement an engaging curriculum, and collaborate with a caring team to create a nurturing setting where young children can grow, explore, and develop essential skills for their success in school and life.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's in Early Childhood Education preferred.
• CDA certification preferred.
• 2-3 years of experience with young children in licensed childcare or preschool preferred.
• Develops relationships and communicates effectively with children, parents, and faculty.

Responsibilities

• Curriculum and Instruction: Implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities; foster a love of learning; observe and assess development.
• Classroom Management: Create a safe, nurturing, inclusive environment; manage daily routines; address behavioral issues with positive guidance.
• Family Communication: Maintain open communication with parents; conduct conferences; encourage family involvement.
• Health and Safety: Ensure cleanliness and safety; adhere to guidelines; supervise activities.
• Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training; stay current with best practices; collaborate with staff.

Starting Salary Range

$39,780 - $42,120

Lead Teacher Key Responsibilities

1. Curriculum and Instruction
   • Implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities
   • Foster a love of learning through creative and engaging teaching methods
   • Observe and assess children's development and adjust activities accordingly
2. Classroom Management
   • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment
   • Manage daily routines and transitions smoothly
   • Address behavioral issues with positive guidance and support
3. Family Communication
   • Maintain open and effective communication with parents/guardians regarding their child's progress and daily activities
   • Conduct parent-teacher conferences and provide regular updates
   • Encourage family involvement and participation in school activities
4. Health and Safety
   • Ensure the cleanliness and orderliness of the classroom and common areas
   • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines and procedures
   • Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities to ensure their safety and well-being
5. Professional Development
   • Participate in ongoing professional development and training opportunities
   • Stay current with best practices in early childhood education
   • Collaborate with other teachers and staff to share ideas and strategies

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; associate or bachelor's in Early Childhood Education preferred
• Child Development Associate (CDA) preferred
• 2 -3 years of previous experience working with young children in a licensed childcare or preschool setting preferred
• Has successfully completed state-required pre-service training
• Develops relationships and communicate effectively with children, parents, and faculty members
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children
