Job description

Vertis Therapy is growing and is looking for a passionate Full-Time Physical Therapy Assistant Lead Therapist for our beautiful Assisted Living and Independent Living campus in Topeka, KS. The Lead Therapist’s primary responsibility is to lead the therapy team, including managing daily operations of the therapy department, supervising therapy staff, and coordinating RUG management. The secondary responsibility is direct patient care. The Rehab Director demonstrates high performance in Vertis core values, leadership, team development, customer service, and department operations. The Rehab Director works closely with the Regional Manager to ensure Vertis standards are maintained and resources are well utilized.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Ensure rehabilitation services are provided in compliance with Vertis and facility policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  2. Coordinate resident screening programs (PT/OT/SLP).
  3. Advocate for meeting the rehabilitation needs of residents.
  4. Participate in care plan and departmental meetings.
  5. Serve as liaison between therapy department, administrator, and nursing staff.
  6. Ensure accurate and timely month-end billing.
  7. Coordinate therapist schedules and arrange PRN staffing as needed.
  8. Communicate PT/OT/SLP schedules and changes to administration and nursing staff.
  9. Coordinate the execution of the Restorative Program with nursing staff and therapy department.
  10. Prepare the Rehab Department for deficiency-free State Surveys and act as department representative during the survey process.
  11. Complete Vertis guide to survey twice annually.
  12. Train staff in Vertis and facility policies and procedures.
  13. Assist in identifying therapy needs of the resident population.
  14. Lead therapy team in implementing clinical programs.
  15. Communicate pertinent information from Vertis management and facility management to the therapy team.
  16. Assist Regional Manager in performance reviews, applicant interviews, and disciplinary actions.
  17. Assist in the orientation of new employees and contract therapists.
  18. Support team development through encouragement, recognition, and fostering a positive work environment.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned by Regional Manager.
  20. Analyze team productivity levels and facilitate achievement of company expectations. Assist in analyzing key operational data to ensure success.
  21. Provide direct patient care, applying discipline-specific principles, methods, materials, and equipment.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements
  1. Associate of Science degree in Physical Therapy Assistant or Occupational Therapy Assistant.
  2. Current license/certification in the state of Indiana.
  3. Minimum one (1) year experience in a rehabilitation setting serving the same age group and patient population.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
