Job summary

The City of Elkhart's Lerner Theatre seeks a Technical Director to oversee lighting, sound, and all production technical operations. This role requires independent judgment and the ability to develop new procedures to support high quality performances.

The incumbent coordinates technical and labor crews, works with production managers, equipment vendors and the General Manager to ensure successful shows. Work hours vary with production schedules and are coordinated with the Director of

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 4+ years operating and maintaining stage equipment including sound systems.
• Knowledge of theater, dance, music, and stage productions.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate setup and operation of technical support equipment for all stage presentations.
• Coordinate stage crews for setup, operation, and breakdown for events.
• Manage resources and staff according to the organizational chart.
• Maintain equipment and stage areas in safe, ready condition.
• Coordinate with show directors on scenery, lighting, and sound for productions.
• Operate audio system, stage lights, and related rigging systems.
• Perform repairs and maintenance on electrical equipment and circuits; arrange major repairs as needed.
• Maintain inventory of onsite theatre supplies.
