Overview

Will consider candidates near other TRC offices (https://www.trccompanies.com/offices/). Due to continued growth, TRC Field Services (FSV) is seeking more Lead Commissioning Engineers to support our Client Teams across the United States with emphasis in the CA market.

With a staff of over 200 experienced utility and industrial commissioning engineers and test technicians, TRC delivers comprehensive, cost-effective solutions safely to our Electric Utility Customers while providing the best training programs and mentors in this industry and numerous opportunities for growth with excellent benefits.

TRC is one of the premier national providers of testing and commissioning solutions in the country. Our staff undergoes extensive, in-house training, ensuring efficient project start up and adherence to your individual standards and specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, perform and document all commissioning activities (pre-commissioning, through construction, testing - commissioning, energization - project close out) of various utility substation protection, control and power circuits in accordance with TRC's and Client's requirements, budgets, schedules.
  • Review of wiring diagrams, schematics, engineering documents in advance of projects and outages.
  • Perform troubleshooting and problem analysis associated with protection and control systems and utility substation equipment.
  • Participate in project meetings including but not limited to: kickoff meetings, planning meetings, progress meetings, lessons learned meetings.
  • Prepare detailed daily, weekly, and project completion reports and documentation.
  • Assist in developing project specific testing and commissioning plans, energization plans, or any other assigned project specific documentation.
  • Identify risks and associated mitigation techniques on utility systems and equipment.
  • Make certain all applicable tests and/or commissioning activities are performed on every piece of equipment or system in accordance with planning and project documents.
  • Develop detailed test reports of various types of electrical equipment.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Electrical or Power Systems preferred) from an accredited school or University and 10+ years related experience with testing and commissioning services.
  • Demonstrated ability to both read and understand construction and manufacturer’s drawings and specifications as well as schematic diagrams.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical protection systems, including relay communication.
  • Prior professional experience in medium and high voltage substation and power plant equipment.
  • Solid testing and commissioning knowledge of substation utility protection and control circuits.
  • Test experience using Doble Protection Suite and/or ProTest, SEL AcSELerator, Enoserv RTS are highly preferred.
  • Current US work eligibility is required together with a Valid USA driver's license issued by state of residence and in good standing.
  • Must be available for out-of-town travel of up to several weeks at a time.
  • Must be available work flexible hours, weekends, overtime holidays and night work.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written skills and be able to communicate and negotiate effectively with clients and Team.

Salary Range
USD $127,000.00 - USD $176,800.00 /Yr.
