Job summary

Amazon Leo is seeking a Lead Integration & Test Technician in Kirkland, WA to guide a team through functional and environmental tests of Kuiper phased array antennas and critical assemblies. You will ensure quality, safety, and timely delivery while coordinating with engineering, design and operations teams.

The role requires 4+ years in electrical hardware assembly/testing, willingness to work shifts and travel up to 5%.

Qualifications

Key job responsibilities
  • Lead and guide a team of Integration & Test Technicians by planning, assigning and executing daily tasks, and assisting with new member onboarding and training
  • Perform functional and environmental testing, repair and troubleshooting of Kuiper phased array antennas and other critical assemblies
  • Enforce high quality and safety standards for both product and personnel
  • Produce daily reports on Integration phased array antenna builds
  • Use precision calibrated tools - torque wrenches, multimeters, optical inspection devices, micrometers and calipers
  • Read, create and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
  • Perform work according to procedures, specifications, and test instructions, some of which may be ambiguous or incomplete in nature
  • Use computer software programs for conducting tests
  • Check and inspect your work, as well as others, after completion to ensure engineering and quality standards are met per the drawing and work instruction requirements
  • Collaborate with manufacturing, design and test engineers to develop, document and complete activities, including continuous improvement opportunities
  • Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient, safe and effective work environment
Additional Requirements
  • Willing to work all shifts, overtime and weekends as needed. Estimated shift times: 1st shift (6:00 am - 4:30 pm Sun-Wed). Shifts may vary, depending on program needs
  • Able to stand for long periods of time and perform repetitive assembly operations
  • Able to climb and down ladders, work in tight spaces, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
  • Able to lift at least 25 lbs. unassisted
  • Must be willing to travel up to 5% to different sites and for training

A day in the life

The Lead Integration & Test Technician is responsible for guiding a team of test technicians to test and troubleshoot Kuiper phased array antennas. This team will work closely with cross-functional engineering, test, quality and operations teams to deliver Kuiper production hardware at the final integration and testing level, prior to launch. This position requires skill and experience in a variety of areas, including PCBA testing and handling, mechanical assembly, avionics integration, electrical checkouts and environmental testing. You will be responsible for ensuring critical tasks to test Kuiper phased array antennas are performed with high quality, high workmanship and safety standards, and on time.

Basic Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 4+ years experience in electrical hardware assembly, test, and/or installation
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years experience leading technicians in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in the aerospace industry, automotive industry, medical device industry, aviation, military or other high-reliability operating environment
  • Experience in an ambiguous, fast-paced production environment
  • Experience working with FOD, ESD sensitive hardware and clean room requirements
  • Experience with forklifts, cranes and heavy equipment (including previous certifications)
  • Skill in operating and manipulating machinery and various hand and power tools requiring manual dexterity
  • A demonstrated ability in reading/writing/creating/understanding technical drawings, work instructions, test plans and standard operating procedures
  • Detailed knowledge of electrical, optical and mechanical systems, antennas, functional testing and satellite components
  • Ability to use a wide variety of precision measuring and testing instruments
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
