SUMMARY:

Responsible for coordinating the fixed activities of the Branch. Performs office and administrative duties, resolves problems, and actively cross-sells bank products and services. Supports and demonstrates the customer service standards set by North Shore Bank. Acts in a supervisory capacity in the absence of the Branch Manager. Some Lead Tellers are assigned as Area Lead Tellers; staff in these roles support multiple branch locations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operations:
  • Coordinate with Branch Manager to disseminate operational changes/updates to branch personnel through staff meetings.
  • Serve customers professionally, courteously, and efficiently through prompt handling of teller functions. Ensure adherence to customer service standards.
  • Answer questions from prospects or customers and maintain good relations; direct customers to appropriate staff for complex inquiries.
  • Handle complex and non-routine inquiries, research and resolve customer issues, referring difficult situations to the manager.
  • Ensure standard operating and security procedures are followed; provide guidance and training to branch staff.
  • Safeguard bank assets, both monetary and non-monetary, by following policies and procedures.
  • Assist with equipment service calls and record maintenance as needed.
  • Open and close the branch as scheduled.
  • Ensure proper staff scheduling.
  • Exercise good judgment when waiving fees within bank guidelines.
  • Provide performance feedback to the branch manager regarding teller staff.
Sales:
  • Identify cross-sell opportunities; make referrals and cross-sells regularly.
  • Make outbound sales calls.
  • Act as a Personal Banker when needed; sell products and services that meet customer needs through various channels.
  • Stay current with bank products, services, promotions, policies, and procedures.
  • Meet or exceed personal referral goals.
  • Support tellers in achieving branch sales goals.
  • Assist with daily sales support as required.
  • Develop and implement monthly sales plans.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalent and at least one year of bank-related operational support experience. Demonstrated customer service abilities and knowledge of financial concepts are required. Previous Teller experience is preferred.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:

Effective verbal and written communication skills, including listening. Ability to focus and manage priorities amidst distractions. Ability to direct and provide constructive feedback to others.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, talk, and hear. May occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds. Vision abilities include close, distance, and focus adjustment.
