Job summary

E2 Optics is seeking a Lead Technician in Cedar Rapids, IA to oversee structured cabling projects onsite. You will read floorplans, set up copper and fiber testing, troubleshoot, and ensure safety policies are followed.

The role requires leadership of small teams and travel as project needs demand. Ideal candidates have 2–5 years in structured cabling, OSHA 30 or equivalent, and BICSI credentials within a year.

Qualifications

• OSHA 30 certification within first 2 weeks
• BICSI Installer 2 Copper preferred
• BICSI Installer 2 Fiber preferred
• BICSI Certified Technician – must be earned within 12 months in role
• Minimum 2–5 years in Structured Cabling or related field
• Read/write English and basic color-code understanding
• Understand and explain cabling system components, codes and best practices
• Ability to select the right tool and method for tasks

Responsibilities

• Follow safe work practices and client site policies.
• Install structured cabling systems and interpret floorplans and cut sheets.
• Lead teams of 3–5 Technicians/Installers to complete project tasks.
• Train Technicians and Installers to perform tasks and responsibilities.
• Oversee jobsite organization and maintain housekeeping.
• Travel as required by E2 Optics (5% overnight in some regions; up to 50%+ in others).
