Job summary

The Traffic Group Limited in Columbus, OH seeks a Lead Technician to install poles, bases, and junction boxes and to supervise a small crew. The role requires operating a bucket truck, concrete saw, and wiring tasks with emphasis on safety and accurate documentation.

Travel is required, including out-of-state assignments; nights may be needed. A signing bonus of $1,000 is offered after six months of employment, and orientation videos must be completed as part of the process.

Qualifications

• Must have High School Diploma/GED and valid Driver’s License with excellent driving record.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and random testing.
• Willingness to travel in-state and out-of-state for several weeks.
• Ability and willingness to work nights.
• Ability to repeatedly lift 50 lbs., reach, stoop, bend.
• Ability to use tools and equipment from handheld to large gasoline driven saws.
• Ability to work in a bucket truck or man lift.
• Experience with general construction or underground utility work.
• Must meet company policies and federal/state background checks.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment to excavate and install pole foundations, poles, concrete bases and junction boxes or oversee contractor as needed.
• Operate bucket truck to install solar panels, cameras, and other equipment.
• Operate concrete saw to install inductive loops and sensors in the roadway.
• Pull wire in underground conduits.
• Install equipment in cabinets and ensure operation.
• Maintain accurate records with photographs and documents.
• Troubleshoot and repair existing traffic count station infrastructure.
• Conduct temporary road work closures as needed.
• Supervise a small crew to ensure safety, efficiency, and completion of tasks.
• Transport crew and equipment safely to/from jobsite.
• Follow safety requirements to ensure onsite safety.

• Operate various equipment to excavate and install pole foundations, poles, concrete bases and junction boxes or oversight of contractor, if needed.
• Operate bucket truck to install solar panels, cameras, and other various equipment.
• Operate concrete saw to install inductive loops and various sensors in the roadway.
• Pulling wire in underground conduits.
• Install various equipment in cabinets and ensure operation.
• Accurate recordkeeping with photographs and various documents.
• Troubleshooting and repair of existing Permanent Traffic Count Station infrastructure.
• Conduct temporary closures for work zones on various types of roadways.
• Supervision of small crew to ensure safety, efficiency, and job completion.
• Safe transportation of crew and equipment to and from jobsite.
• Follow all safety requirements to ensure safety of yourself and others onsite.

Position Requirements

• Must have High School Diploma/GED as well as Valid Driver’s License w/excellent driving record.
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen as well as random testing.

• Operation of walk behind concrete saw.
• Construction experience in general construction or underground utility work.
• Must meet company policies and standards as well as federal and state laws regarding a background check.

Additional Experience Preferred

• Proficient in the use of digital voltmeter and various equipment for testing.
• Equipment operation such as bucket truck, excavator, trencher, skid steer, man lift.
• Traffic control standards and involvement in application.
• Experience with light electrical work and associated hand tools.
• Experience with traffic counting equipment - Diamond, PEEK, Q-Free.
• Experience with inductive traffic loops or axle sensors.
• Experience with MOT.
