Job summary

Restoration Management Company is seeking a Lead Technician II in Houston. You will lead a team of technicians through mitigation and environmental projects from start to finish, reporting to the Supervisor and potentially the Project/Branch Manager.

The role requires coordinating with other departments and ensuring quality and safety compliance. Candidates should have at least 3 years in a lead technician role in construction/restoration, hold a valid Class C driver's license, and be capable of

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in lead technician role in construction, restoration, or mitigation.
  • Must have valid Class C driver's license and be insurable.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Able to pass respirator physical and fit exam.
  • Industry certifications preferred; ability to pass required medical exams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a group of technicians (3+) to complete restoration projects from start to finish.
  • Maintain regular communications with branch and project managers about schedules, scope changes, and resources.
  • Supervise multiple jobs of varying complexity and ensure high quality workmanship.
  • Ensure safety policies and SOPs are followed; mentor and develop technicians.
  • Complete paperwork, timecards, and detailed project notes for billing.

Job Summary

The Lead Technician II must be able to lead a team of technicians through each phase of the mitigation and/or environmental project from the initial stage to completion. This position reports directly to the Supervisor and could be co-managed by the Project Manager and/or Branch Manager of that location. Interfacing with other departments within the company will be required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain regular communications with key stakeholders including Branch Manager, Operations Manager, Project Manager, Supervisor and Project Coordinator for purposes of discussing matters relative to project schedules, changes in scope of work, material, and personnel resources to ensure smooth completion of project.
  • Perform and/or direct staff to perform necessary tasks to help expedite the completion of the job, including but not limited to: Pickup and order materials, moving client contents, performing necessary repairs at the highest quality while adhering to code regulations and industry standards.
  • Lead a group of 3 or more technicians, providing supervision and direction based on defined job parameters.
  • Responsible for supervising multiple and different types of jobs in a day - simple to complex to large loss.
  • Ensures team provides best customer experience and makes/recommends adjustments based on experience to serve in the best interest of the client and company
  • Maintaining company assigned vehicle and restock supplies, as necessary.
  • Complete and turn in crew sheets and job notes at the end of each day.
  • Serve as role model in following and enforcing company policy and safety procedures while performing services.
  • Assist in development of technicians through mentoring, coaching, equipping and encouraging development of skills through feedback..
  • Assist in jobsite safety briefings, provides training within scope of knowledge.
  • May act as company Site Safety Representative, applies knowledge of industry standards, safety training and understanding of company policies in enforcing safety guidelines.
  • Complete timecards in a timely and accurate manner, ensure crew members do the same.
  • Turn in completed work orders including but not limited to: measurements, moisture readings, and necessary detailed paperwork for Project Manager to complete billing.
  • Maintain trade skills through regular training, as provided by company.
  • Continue building knowledge of company services, operations, and standard practices to support individual professional growth.
Experience/Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in lead technician role in construction field, and/or restoration/mitigation field or experience gained through successfully meeting job requirements of Lead Tech I.
  • Valid Driver's License, with driving record in good standing (Class C)
  • Must be insurable
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Able to pass Respirator Physical and obtain respiratory fit exam.
  • Industry certifications preferred, with ability to pass medical exams if required for certification.
  • Ability to communicate and provide excellent customer service.
  • Good grasp of English language (read, write, verbal)
  • Comfortable with utilizing software and applications in accessing documents, forms, reports, etc. and submitting same through company approved methods.
  • Ability to effectively teach and actively contribute to the development of technicians (crew) through demonstration, encouraging opportunities for growth.
  • Strong understanding of safety guidelines and applies to daily tasks
  • Successfully completed the Site Safety representative training.
  • Possesses thorough knowledge of company SOP's and adheres to guidelines. Shares with crew through application of SOP's in daily activities.
  • Expertise in use of hand tools, power tools, and other miscellaneous equipment to complete the job.
  • Focuses on continuous growth and development. Asks for feedback and applies what they learn and is willing to do the same for others.
  • Can interpret, basic to complex instructions/plans/guidelines (i.e. - Material Data Sheets, schematics, drawings, etc)
Safety Requirements
  • Regulatory Requirements: Adhere to all local, state, and federal safety regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Required PPE may include gloves, masks, goggles, hard hats, and safety footwear. All employees must wear PPE as required for their specific roles and job site conditions.
  • Physical Clearance: Successfully complete a pulmonary function test, including a respirator fit test, to ensure their ability to safely utilize the designated respirator selected for the role.
  • Physical Hazards: Potential exposure to physical hazards, including vibration from equipment, the risk of falls in the workspace, exposure to extreme temperatures, and high noise levels.
  • Chemical Hazards: Work may involve exposure to various chemicals, including solvents, adhesives, paints, and cleaning agents. Proper use, handling, and storage of these materials are essential to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Biological Hazards: Work may involve exposure to biological hazards, such as mold, bacteria, and other pathogens commonly found in restoration environments.
  • Safety Training: Complete all mandatory safety training sessions, including but not limited to hazard communication, emergency response, and safe equipment handling.
  • Reporting Safety Concerns: Ability to identify and immediately report any unsafe conditions, hazards, incidents or injuries to supervisors without fear of retaliation.
  • Emergency Procedures: Familiarize yourself with emergency procedures relevant to your specific job site, including evacuation routes, and emergency contacts.
Physical Requirements
General Physical Abilities
  • Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry materials or equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. regularly and up to 100lbs. with assistance.
  • Physical Activities: Ability to perform tasks that require, walking, bending, reaching, crouching, kneeling, climb, squat, crawl, lift above shoulder, reach, and twist.
  • Sitting and Standing: Prolonged sitting or standing required (in office, driving and/or at job sites). Regular alternating between sitting and standing.
  • Repetitive Motions: Continuous repetitive motion and tasks involving L/R hand movement (computer/mouse), wrists, or arms (e.g., typing, data entry).
  • Machinery Operation: Capacity to operate machinery and tools as required by job tasks, which may involve fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
  • Visual Ability: requirement for clear vision (e.g., close work, computer use, eye hand coordination)
Office Environment
  • Indoor office setting for corporate roles, including working with standard office equipment (computers, phones, printers). May involve regular meetings, (in person or zoom) and collaboration with team members.
Field Environment
  • Outdoor fieldwork at restoration sites, which may include residential, commercial, or industrial properties. Duties may involve exposure to different weather conditions (sun, rain, snow, heat).
Hazardous Environments
  • Potential exposure to hazardous materials, chemicals, or contaminants specific to restoration work, requiring strict adherence to safety protocols and use of PPE.
  • Work after hours and weekends given our 24/7 business operations
Travel Requirements
  • May include travel to and from job sites, requiring the use of company and/or personal vehicles. Possibility of attending out-of-town trainings, meetings, or conferences.
