Job description

Sunbelt Technology is looking for an experienced Lead AV Technician and Crestron Programmer who can take ownership of sophisticated residential technology projects—from installation and programming through final testing and client handoff.

Crestron programming experience is required. We have a strong pipeline of Crestron projects already sold and need someone who can contribute immediately while helping develop the Crestron capabilities of our growing technical team.

This is not an entry-level installation position. We need a hands-on technical leader who understands how complete systems work, takes initiative, works through technical challenges, and knows when to bring in the right resources.

About Sunbelt Technology

Sunbelt Technology is an established, locally owned Atlanta integration company specializing in luxury residential automation, lighting control, motorized shades, networking, security, audio/video, and home theater systems.

For nearly 20 years, we have served homeowners, builders, architects, and designers throughout the Atlanta area. Our work ranges from focused system upgrades to large, fully integrated custom homes. Sunbelt Technology is a Lutron Platinum dealer, an 11-time CE Pro 100 company, and a three-time Bulldog Top 100 honoree.

What You’ll Do
  • Program, configure, commission, and troubleshoot Crestron residential systems
  • Lead Crestron projects from installation through final testing and client handoff
  • Review existing programming, diagnose system issues, and implement reliable solutions
  • Lead residential AV and home-automation installations from rough-in through completion
  • Configure and troubleshoot Control4 systems when experience allows
  • Configure audio/video distribution, lighting control, networking, surveillance, security, and other integrated systems
  • Read plans, wiring diagrams, rack elevations, scopes of work, and system documentation
  • Build, wire, dress, label, test, and commission equipment racks
  • Diagnose programming, network, wiring, system, and equipment issues
  • Direct the daily work of technicians and help develop less-experienced team members
  • Help train and mentor technicians who are developing their Crestron skills
  • Coordinate with project managers, builders, designers, electricians, and other trades
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners and provide clear system demonstrations
  • Document programming, system configurations, completed work, and outstanding items
  • Maintain Sunbelt’s standards for craftsmanship, reliability, cleanliness, and client care
What We’re Looking For
  • Professional Crestron programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting experience is required
  • Ability to independently take an active Crestron project from programming through completion
  • At least five years of professional residential AV or custom-integration experience
  • Strong residential AV installation, integration, and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience leading technicians and managing work on active residential job sites
  • Thorough knowledge of distributed audio/video, home automation, networking, surveillance, and low-voltage systems
  • Strong rack-building, termination, testing, and cable-management skills
  • Working knowledge of IP networks, including managed switches, wireless networks, VLANs, and device addressing
  • Ability to independently diagnose complex technical problems
  • Ability to read construction plans, technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and system schematics
  • Professional communication skills and confidence working directly with discerning clients
  • Strong organization, follow-through, and attention to detail
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • Ability to safely use ladders, lifts, power tools, and standard installation equipment

Control4 programming experience is highly preferred. Experience with Lutron HomeWorks, Josh.ai, Access Networks, Just Add Power, surveillance systems, and advanced residential networking is also highly valued. Crestron, Control4, Lutron, CEDIA, CTS, or comparable certifications are a plus.

What Success Looks Like

The right person can walk onto a project, understand what needs to happen, organize the technical work, and move the job toward completion. You take pride in clean installations, logical programming, accurate documentation, and systems that are reliable and easy for homeowners to use.

This is a senior technical position that works closely with our operations and project-management teams. You do not need to know every product we sell on your first day, but you must have strong Crestron experience, solid integration fundamentals, a problem-solving mindset, and the desire to continue growing at the highest level of the industry.
