Job description

Compensation
  • $75,000 - $125,000 per year – Salary plus Stock Options
Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Lead Technician to oversee and support advanced electronic assembly operations in a high-quality manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will possess extensive hands‑on experience with Surface Mount Technology (SMT), automated assembly equipment, complex soldering and rework processes, and quality assurance standards. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and the ability to optimize production processes while maintaining exceptional workmanship and product quality.

Key Responsibilities

Lead daily SMT and automated assembly operations, ensuring production goals, quality standards, and delivery schedules are met. Set up, program, operate, and troubleshoot pick‑and‑place machines and other automated manufacturing equipment. Configure and maintain machine programs for SMT assembly processes. Perform advanced soldering, inspection, and rework of electronic assemblies. Execute intricate rework involving fine‑pitch components, BGAs (Ball Grid Arrays), and other high‑density electronic packages. Analyze manufacturing defects and implement corrective actions to improve yields and process efficiency. Ensure compliance with quality assurance procedures, workmanship standards, and customer requirements. Train and mentor technicians on assembly processes, equipment operation, soldering techniques, and quality standards. Collaborate with engineering and production teams to support new product introductions and process improvements. Maintain production documentation, machine settings, and process records. Assist in preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of SMT and automated assembly equipment.

Required Qualifications

Proven experience in SMT manufacturing and electronic assembly environments. Extensive knowledge of pick‑and‑place machines and automated assembly systems. Strong machine programming experience related to manufacturing equipment setup and operation. Advanced soldering skills with demonstrated expertise in fine‑pitch component assembly and rework. Experience working with BGAs, microelectronic components, and complex PCB assemblies. Strong understanding of IPC workmanship standards and electronic manufacturing best practices. Experience conducting quality inspections and supporting quality assurance initiatives. Ability to read and interpret assembly drawings, work instructions, schematics, and manufacturing documentation. Excellent troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills. Strong organizational, communication, and leadership abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

IPC certification (IPC‑A‑610, J‑STD‑001, or equivalent). Experience with SMT process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives. Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience in an electronics manufacturing environment. Familiarity with manufacturing metrics, yield analysis, and process control methodologies.
