Job summary

RMA Worldwide Chauffeured Transportation is seeking a Lead Technician to oversee the daily maintenance and repair activities for our fleet of luxury motor coaches and commercial vehicles. You will act as the shop's technical leader, guiding diagnostics, repairs, and training to maximize fleet reliability, safety, and readiness.

You will lead the maintenance team, diagnose complex systems, manage preventive inspections, and ensure compliance with DOT rules while promoting safety and high-quality

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5–8 years of heavy-duty diesel/coach maintenance experience.
  • Leadership or mentoring experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engines, air brake systems, HVAC, electrical systems, and diagnostics.
  • CDL Class B or A with Passenger endorsement preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily workflow of the maintenance shop and assign work.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on diesel-powered vehicles.

Position Summary

The Lead Technician is responsible for overseeing the daily maintenance and repair activities of the company's fleet of luxury motor coaches, minibuses, and commercial vehicles. This position serves as the shop's technical leader, ensuring repairs are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. The Lead Technician performs advanced diagnostics and repairs while providing guidance, training, and support to maintenance technicians to maximize fleet reliability, safety, and operational readiness.

Shift
  • Lead the daily workflow of the maintenance shop by assigning work, monitoring repair progress, and ensuring timely completion of maintenance tasks.
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and repairs on diesel-powered motor coaches, minibuses, and commercial vehicles.
  • Troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electronic systems.
  • Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, drivetrains, suspension, steering, air brake systems, HVAC, emissions systems, and electrical components.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance inspections in accordance with DOT regulations, manufacturer specifications, and company standards.
  • Ensure all vehicles are safe, compliant, and ready for service.
  • Mentor, coach, and train maintenance technicians to improve technical skills and overall shop performance.
  • Assist with troubleshooting difficult repairs and provide technical guidance to technicians.
  • Review completed repairs for quality assurance and accuracy.
  • Coordinate with the Fleet Maintenance Manager, Dispatch, and Parts Department to prioritize repairs based on operational needs.
  • Maintain accurate repair orders, maintenance records, and inspection documentation.
  • Assist in managing shop inventory, tools, and equipment.
  • Respond to emergency roadside service calls when necessary.
  • Promote and enforce all company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
  • Foster a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5–8 years of heavy-duty diesel, motor coach, or commercial vehicle maintenance experience.
  • Previous experience leading or mentoring technicians preferred.
  • Strong experience with diesel engines, air brake systems, HVAC, electrical systems, and computerized diagnostics.
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams, service manuals, and technical schematics.
  • Valid driver's license required; CDL Class B or Class A with Passenger endorsement preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ASE Medium/Heavy Truck Certifications (T-Series).
  • Experience working on MCI, Prevost, Van Hool, Temsa, Grech, Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, or similar commercial passenger vehicles.
  • Cummins, Allison, Detroit Diesel, or OEM manufacturer training.
  • EPA Section 609 Air Conditioning Certification.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is a plus.

  • Proficiency with fleet maintenance software and diagnostic equipment.
  • Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and customer service.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds, with assistance for heavier components.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, crouch, climb, and work underneath vehicles for extended periods.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, lifts, and shop equipment.
