Job summary

J T in Annapolis Junction, MD seeks an experienced Technical Writer (Level 3) to author and oversee comprehensive technical documentation for complex cryptologic systems under DoD programs. You will translate intricate technical data into clear publications, lead documentation projects, and ensure adherence to NSA DS-89 and DoD guidelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline plus minimum 8 years of technical writing experience on programs/contracts of similar scope and complexity.
• Master's degree in a technical discipline plus at least 6 years of technical writing experience (Master's substituting for 2 years)
• 12 years of relevant technical writing experience without a degree
• DS-89 and DoD publication guidelines familiarity and compliance

Responsibilities

• Author, edit, and maintain complex technical publications, user manuals, SOPs, training guides, and design specifications.
• Develop defense acquisition lifecycle documentation for DoD electronic systems and cryptologic mission platforms.
• Ensure all documentation adheres to NSA DS-89 standards.
• Gather technical data from engineering documentation and staff, interpret drawings and schematics.
• Lead documentation projects with multiple contributors and ensure quality reviews.
• Maintain the program's centralized internal documentation repository and library.
• Prepare reports, white papers, and briefings for diverse audiences using MS Word, PowerPoint, and Visio.
