Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin's University Unions division is seeking a Technical Trades Crew Leader to guide the Maintenance Shop's operations, mentor a team of mechanical technicians, and ensure projects meet drawings, specifications, and schedules. This on-site role requires strong carpentry skills and the ability to lead under pressure.

You'll work on facility renovations, support campus events, enforce safety, manage documentation, and coordinate with contractors to deliver quality

Qualifications

• High school graduation or GED.
• Three years of journey-level experience in the carpentry trade, including experience in all phases of construction.
• Ability to complete projects with drawings, specifications, or verbal instructions, with or without supervision.
• Demonstrated experience leading a work crew or team.
• Proven track record of following safety protocols.
• Willingness to pass background check and agility tests.

Responsibilities

• Lead staff in facility renovation, repair, and construction projects per documents and schedules.
• Provide support to building events.
• Direct a team of Mechanical Technicians on job sites.
• Maintain high standards for employee conduct and safety.
• Coordinate shop operations and crew assignments in supervisor's absence.
• Assist with documentation and reporting, including time sheets and requisitions.
• Promote timely project completion and client communications.
