Job summary

Hecla Mining Co. in Coeur d'Alene, ID seeks a Senior Principal, Technical Studies to lead the definition, execution, and delivery of technical studies across operating mines, growth projects, and JV opportunities.

You will manage study definition, regulatory and NI 43-101 work, build economic models, coordinate internal and external teams, and ensure documentation is clear, defendable, and aligned with strategic decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mining Engineering preferred; Geology, Civil, Geotechnical, or Metallurgical Engineering considered where mining study leadership is demonstrated
• 15+ years of progressive technical experience in mining, including leadership of studies through PEA, prefeasibility, and feasibility
• Demonstrated track record of studies and reports that supported decisions and led to action
• Substantial experience selecting, scoping, and managing engineering consultants
• Underground narrow-vein and polymetallic (silver, zinc, lead, gold) experience strongly preferred
• Direct experience preparing, coordinating, or contributing to technical reports under S-K 1300 and NI 43-101; Qualified Person status or eligibility is asset
• Professional registration required: PE/P.Eng. or PG/P.Geo for geoscience disciplines

Responsibilities

• Define the business question and the decision each study must support before scoping work
• Lead trade-off and option studies, including alternatives analysis, capital and operating trade-offs
• Lead technical due diligence evaluations on acquisitions, divestments, and JV opportunities
• Produce technical reports under S-K 1300 and NI 43-101; coordinate Qualified Persons
• Manage study scope, cost, and schedule to commitment
• Provide input to the annual studies budget and forecast
• Complete studies through handover to the project execution team
