Lead Technical & Production Engineer — Live Events

Job summary

SCAD invites a Technical and Production Lead to ensure sound, lighting, video, staging, and other theater equipment operates for events across SCAD venues in Atlanta. You’ll collaborate with internal departments to set up and run productions and represent SCADshow, SCAD COURT, and FORTY event spaces at meetings.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree and at least two years in live-event or theater tech, with experience in ETC lighting, rigging, digital audio consoles, and projection systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and at least two years of technical and production experience in live-event or theatrical productions
• Experience working with ETC lighting control systems, rigging, digital audio consoles and audio mixing, and Digital Cinema Projection Systems or another projection system
• Working knowledge of PC or Windows-based computer software and an understanding of theater technical equipment and processes
• Ability to lift more than 50 lbs.
• Ability to frequently work nights and weekends

Responsibilities

• Install, operate, and de-install technology and operational needs in collaboration with internal departments to ensure proper setup and operations for events
• Ensure compliance with venue-specific, SCAD, and industry standards across all productions
• Act as a technical representative for SCADshow, SCAD COURT, and FORTY event space at meetings to present proposals informed by your experience and expertise
• Complete regular inventory and maintenance of equipment across all locations
• Assist the technical director of SCAD TVfest, SCAD AnimationFest, and the other festivals with technical operations
• Receive specialized training from the director of production to ensure proper maintenance and operation of the entire show system
• Conduct daily start-up and end-of-day processes and duties
• Complete all technical maintenance work in collaboration with the production director
• Act as the on-site and on-call technician for any troubleshooting that may occur during operating hours for specific shifts
