Job summary

Boeing is seeking a Senior Technical Pilot to apply fighter experience to procedure design, pilot-vehicle interfaces, and test strategies across aircraft programs. You will mentor Technical Pilots, engage regulators, support BD, and contribute to investigations.

This role involves shaping test plans, coordinating with engineering and manufacturing, and representing Boeing in forums. Expect travel and leadership responsibilities in a high-visibility program.

Qualifications

• Active Top Secret clearance within 24 months is required.
• BS in Engineering or closely related field; Master’s preferred.
• FAA Commercial certificate or ATP with endorsements, or military equivalent.
• Ability to obtain FAA Second Class Medical certificate.
• Minimum 1,000 hours as PIC in turbine-powered jet aircraft.
• Test/development experience on 5th/6th-generation fighter aircraft.
• U.S. Person for export-control compliance.
• Willingness to undergo drug testing and background checks.

About the role

As the senior Technical Pilot, you'll apply human factors and tactical fighter experience to shape procedure design, pilot-vehicle interface, and test strategies across experimental, prototype, and production aircraft. You'll mentor a cadre of Technical Pilots, represent Boeing in high-visibility internal and external forums, engage with regulators at the executive level, support business development initiatives, and contribute expertise to accident investigations and analyses.

What you'll do

• Support engineering of advanced aircraft and systems; plan and execute engineering and experimental test events.
• Provide flight operations, safety, and technical support to stakeholders; recommend operational techniques that inform system and design enhancements.
• Develop and approve new or revised procedures; research, write, and coordinate publication of tactics, techniques, and procedures for operating Boeing aircraft.
• Shape test plans, procedures, and techniques to meet objectives for qualification or certification while preserving design integrity.
• Coordinate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and airworthiness teams on certification and compliance activities.
• Advise, coach, and mentor Technical Pilots; serve as Boeing's technical lead in internal/external collaborations and industry forums.
• Engage with regulatory agencies at the executive level; support business development by articulating and demonstrating aircraft capabilities and new flight technologies.
• Consult with cross-functional teams during accident investigations and safety analyses.

What you bring (Required qualifications)

• Active U.S. Top Secret security clearance (active within the past 24 months qualifies).
• Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or a closely related field (or non-U.S. equivalent).
• Certification: FAA Commercial Certificate or FAA ATP with appropriate endorsements, or a military equivalent.
• Ability to obtain an FAA Second Class Medical certificate.
• Minimum 1,000 hours as PIC in turbine-powered jet aircraft (Jet time: 1,000 hours).
• Test or development experience on 5th- or 6th-generation fighter aircraft.
• Meets U.S. export-control requirements as a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen, national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).
• Willingness to complete drug-free workplace testing, a conflict-of-interest assessment, and pilot records database screening.

Note: This is not an active flying position.

Preferred qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in Engineering.
• Graduate of U.S. DoD Weapons Instructor Course (WIC).
• Graduate of a recognized Test Pilot School (TPS).

Licenses and certifications

• FAA Commercial Pilot License (CPL) or ATP (unrestricted or restricted), or military equivalent, with appropriate endorsements.

Schedule and travel

• Primarily first shift; alternate or weekend shifts may be required.
• Travel up to approximately 20%.
