Job summary

Sandy Pines Residential Treatment Center in South Florida seeks a Day Shift Unit Coordinator/Mental Health Tech Supervisor to oversee milieu management and supervise Mental Health Technicians. You will assist the Charge Nurse in organizing resident care and represent MHTs in committee meetings.

Responsibilities include observing patients, recording vital signs, leading education groups, assisting with ADLs, and maintaining a therapeutic environment on the unit.

Qualifications

• Requires HS Diploma or equivalent and 3–5 years’ experience working with children or adolescents, or an A.A. degree with 1 year experience; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Previous psych experience preferred.
• Current CPR Certification (training provided).
• Detail oriented with ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong communication skills.
• Excellent customer service and organization skills.
• Highly effective listening skills.

Responsibilities

• Observes patients to detect behavior patterns; documents and reports observations to Charge Nurse or staff.
• Takes and records measures of patients’ general physical condition; notifies staff of abnormal values.
• Facilitates patient education and activity groups.
• Assists patients with ADLs and personal needs.
• Uses approved verbal and physical de-escalation techniques.
• Escorts patients to meals, breaks and activities.
• Promotes a therapeutic environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Sandy Pines Residential Treatment Center is a 149-bed Residential Psychiatric Facility servicing children and adolescents ages 5 to 17. The facility is in beautiful South Florida, nestled beside Jonathan Dickinson State Park and just minutes away from the shores of the Atlantic Ocean. Sandy Pines is seeking a dynamic and talented Day Shift Unit Coordinator/Mental Health Tech Supervisor. The MHT Unit Coordinator will be responsible for management of the milieu of the units assigned and supervising the Mental Health Technicians on their assigned unit. They will also assist the Charge Nurse in organizing and monitoring all aspects of resident care and will represent the Mental Health Technicians in committee meetings.

• Observes patients to detect behavior patterns. Documents and reports observations to Charge Nurse or appropriate staff.
• Takes and records measures of patients’ general physical condition, such as pulse, temperature, blood pressure and respiration. Notifies Charge Nurse or appropriate staff of abnormal values.
• Facilitates patient education and activity groups
• Assists the patient with ADLs and personal needs (i.e., management of clothing and property; grooming).
• Uses approved verbal and physical de-escalation techniques.
• Escorts patients to meals, breaks and other activities.
• Promotes a therapeutic environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.
