Job summary

Candidates should hold a Bachelor's in Education or related field and have at least one year of classroom experience. DC certification is preferred. The position offers flexible start dates and weekly compensation, in a temporary capacity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Education or related field is required.
• Minimum 1 year of Classroom experience.
• Valid teaching certification/license in Washington DC preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of instructional best practices and educational theories.
• Experience in writing and monitoring IEPs and communicating with families and service providers to support students; excellent teaching and communication skills.
• Experience working with diverse student populations is preferred.
• Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.

Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare, and deliver instructional activities that facilitate active learning experiences.
• Communicate with the site director, administration, fellow teachers, service staff, parents and guardians.
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment conducive to the intellectual, social, and emotional development of all students.
• Develop lesson plans and instructional materials aligned with curriculum standards and objectives.
• Work with parents and other community members to meet student learning needs.
• Be alert and implement diverse teaching strategies to accommodate learning styles.
• Assess student learning through ongoing observation, evaluation, and feedback.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders to support student achievement and well-being.
• Attend professional development to enhance teaching skills and modify materials for all students.
