Job summary

YMCA of Greater Erie is seeking a Lead Teacher for the PRE-K COUNTS program at the Early Learning Center YMCA for the 2026-2027 school year. The role offers weekends off and pays $39.33 per hour.

You will develop curriculum with the Assistant Teacher and ensure compliance with all regulations while engaging with families daily. The position requires 18+ years of age, multiple credential options in early childhood education with PreK-4 certification, and the ability to pass background checks and

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• Must have one of the listed degrees with PreK-4 certification.
• Ability to pass FBI, Child Abuse, State Police and NSOR background checks.
• Ability to pass a physical and negative TB test.
• Acquire 24 hours of training annually or per the professional plan.
• Love for children and dedication to early childhood education.

Responsibilities

• Assist the program director to deliver a high-quality Pre-K Counts program.
• Plan, develop and implement curriculum with daily lesson plans with the Assistant Teacher.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations in the classroom.
• Assist with enrollment and onboarding of children and parents into the Y program.
• Maintain accurate classroom records and adhere to YMCA standards and government regulations.
• Attend family events and program activities to engage families and the community.
