Job Title: Lead Teacher - FIRSTSTEP

Location: Brooklyn, New York

Employment Type: Full-Time

Job Description
  1. Develop schemes of work and lesson plans.
  2. Plan and implement individual educational plans supporting children's social, intellectual, linguistic, physical, and emotional development appropriate to their age and stage.
  3. Provide early learning experiences across various subjects including social-emotional development, literacy, language, mathematics, sciences, social studies, physical education, fine arts, and foreign languages.
  4. Create and maintain a developmentally appropriate classroom environment conducive to children's growth.
  5. Prepare diverse learning materials and resources for educational activities.
  6. Instruct and monitor students’ use of learning materials and equipment.
  7. Utilize relevant technology to support instruction.
  8. Observe and evaluate students' performance and development.
  9. Maintain accurate classroom and child data records.
  10. Encourage and monitor individual student progress.
  11. Update necessary records in compliance with laws, district policies, and school regulations.
  12. Collaborate regularly with classroom teachers and the Education Director to review data, develop action plans, and support goal achievement.
  13. Participate in department and school meetings, as well as parent meetings.
  14. Communicate student progress and needs effectively to students, colleagues, and parents.
  15. Stay informed about developments in subject areas, teaching resources, and methods; incorporate relevant changes into instructional plans.
  16. Work with interdisciplinary teams to fulfill job duties.
  17. Promote a positive behavior support environment and encourage pro-social behaviors and interactions.
  18. Support and participate in behavior management programs.
  19. Attend in-service training, staff meetings, and seminars as needed.
  20. Serve as a role model, exemplifying values such as integrity, respect, dignity, and self-control.
  21. Participate in reflective supervision with the Education Director.
  22. Adhere to programming requirements and performance standards as prescribed by funding and model requirements.
  23. Maintain a safe and healthy classroom environment; conduct daily health and environment checks; ensure proper maintenance and storage of classroom equipment and supplies.
  24. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required: Associates degree in early childhood or related field from an accredited institution (NYS certification preferred). Study plan accepted.
