Job summary

TVCCA - Thames Valley Council for Community Action, Inc. seeks a Head Teacher to oversee care, supervision, safety, and day-to-day operations across center/classroom environments.

You will develop and implement age-appropriate curricula that foster self-esteem and independence while integrating health, safety, and nutrition education into planning. You will ensure compliance with CT licensing, funding, federal/state/local laws, and NAEYC standards; maintain staff files and certifications;

Qualifications

• Must have 12 OEC/ECE credits (Intro to ECE, Child Development, Health, Safety & Nutrition in ECE and Child, Family & Community) or be willing to achieve within 2 years.
• CDA credential with 12 ECE credits and pursuing an Associate/Bachelor in ECE or related field; include required OEC courses; must be completed within two years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Care for center/classroom children, supervise daily operations and safety.
• Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum promoting self-esteem, independence, and healthy development.
• Ensure health, safety and nutritional education is integrated into curriculum planning; maintain classroom and playground cleanliness and order.
• Ensure staff files are up to date; support compliance with CT licensing codes, funding requirements, and applicable laws.
