Job summary

Johnson County Park and Recreation District (JCPRD) is hiring for after-school program assistants at De Soto elementary schools. Salary is $14.00 per hour with morning and/or afternoon shifts, Monday through Friday in the De Soto School District.

You will supervise children ages 5–12, lead activities, ensure safety, and follow KDHE guidelines while delivering exceptional customer service. Candidates must be 18+, HS diploma, pass a background check, and complete trainings.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or equivalent
• Some experience with children
• Pass KBI background check

Responsibilities

• Safety of the children in the program at all times.
• Direct interaction with the children in games, activities, and free play.
• Follow JCPRD and KDHE guidelines.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized program.
• Communicate effectively with parents, children, supervisors, and co-workers.
• Exhibit initiative by demonstrating leadership without prompting.
• Display professionalism always.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Attend all required in-service trainings and meetings.
• Additional duties as assigned by the Program Director or Assistant Program Director

Job Description

• Salary: 14.00 per hour
• Locations are at various elementary schools in the De Soto School District.
• De Soto Schools: Monday - Friday, 7:00 am - 9:00 am and/or 3:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Scheduling and shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.

Job Requirements

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Minimum age of 18
• High School Graduate or equivalent
• Some experience with children
• Pass KBI background check

Preferred Job Requirements:

• One year experience working with children 5-12 years of age in a licensed childcare setting.

JCPRD requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department.
