Start Early Lake County is hiring a Preschool Certified Teacher (PEL) in Beach Park, IL to work with 3–5 year olds. You will design engaging, research-based lesson plans and manage daily classroom activities, while supervising a Teacher Assistant and leading team meetings.

You’ll tailor learning using assessments and observations, conduct parent conferences, and ensure compliance with Head Start and ISBE standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or child development (or related field) with at least 30 hours in ECE.
• Master’s degree in early childhood education (or related field) with at least 30 hours in ECE.
• Professional Educator License (PEL) with ECE Endorsement and Illinois Gateways ECE Credential Level 5 preferred.
• Two years of experience in an early childhood setting; knowledge of Head Start/Preschool for All programs preferred.

Responsabilités

• Create comprehensive and engaging lesson plans for 3–5 year olds using research-based practices.
• Manage daily classroom activities with energy and enthusiasm.
• Supervise and guide the Teacher Assistant; lead classroom team meetings.
• Develop lesson plans with Creative Curriculum, clear goals, outcomes and activities.
• Tailor learning using assessments, screenings and observations to support development.
• Conduct two parent–teacher conferences and home visits each year.
• Adhere to Individualized Education Programs and Family Service Plans to support each child.
• Incorporate children's interests and cultures into learning experiences.
• Ensure safety per licensing standards, Head Start guidelines and ISBE regulations.
• Observe and document each child’s progress; maintain education binders.
• Collaborate with the Education Coordinator and team; may be assigned other tasks as needed.
• Stay compliant with Head Start/Preschool For All regulations and daily attendance, sign-in and meal reports.
• Participate in recruitment to maintain full enrollment and engage families.
• Engage in ongoing professional development and training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
