Job summary

BronxWorks seeks an early childhood education professional to join our Children’s Services team. The role supports program goals, designs developmentally appropriate activities, and fosters a nurturing classroom environment for children aged 0–5.

Requirements include a Bachelor's in Education or ECE, 4+ years in ECE, and strong communication skills. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus. CPR/First Aid certification or timeline to obtain is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in education or early childhood education.
  • At minimum of four years of experience working within an early childhood education setting preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
  • First Aid, CPR, and Responding to Emergency (RTE) certification, or obtain within 3-6 months.
  • Engaging personality and detailed orientated skills are essential.
  • Strong oral and written communication, time management and organizational skills are necessary.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is required.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all OSHA requirements.
  • Assist Director of Children’s Services with the development of program goals and early childhood activities.
  • Assist in preparation of lesson plans in compliance with ACD regulations.
  • Create a nurturing and supportive environment for children.
  • Implement various early childhood educational, recreational, and social activities that foster development and growth.
  • Engage children in team building activities.
  • Assist an individual child or group of children with dressing and toilet training, change diapers and ensure sanitary conditions.
  • Provide classroom management.
  • Attend regular staff meetings.
  • Attend training sessions and workshops on early childhood education.
  • Meet monthly with program coordinator and/or program director for supervision.
  • Act as a liaison with parents.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and other standard business technology is required.
Pysical Requirements
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Good writing skills.
  • Ability to work with infants and preschool children from ages of 0-5 years.
  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, or sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to climb five flights of stairs.
  • Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
  • Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent countries via public transportation.
  • Ability to travel for minimum of 1 mile within a reasonable amount of time in all types of weather, including inclement weather.
  • ‘TB Test required with the first 120 days of employment’
