POSITION SUMMARY
As a Lead Teacher,you’llplay an essential role in creating a safe, engaging, and nurturing environment for infants, toddlers, and young children. Working closely with the Supervisor and the Childcare Manager, you willcreate developmentallyappropriate curriculum, care for children’s basic needs, foster social and educational development, and communicate effectively with families. This is a full-time year-round, benefit eligible position. The compensation range for this role is $24.00 - $27.00/hour , based on experience. Employee housing is available for this role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Curriculum and Instruction
- Plan andimplementdevelopmentallyappropriatecurriculumthat promote learning through play and exploration
- Create a welcoming and engagingclassroomenvironmentthat fosters growth
- Observe and assess children’sdevelopmentover time
Family Communication & Guest Services
- Greet and interact with parents/guardians in a welcoming and professional manner
- Share updates on each child’s daily experience and respond to questions or concerns
- Collaborate with theChildcare Supervisorand Manager to resolve issues promptly
- Lead parent teacher meetings biannually
Team Collaboration & Professional Development
- Work cooperatively with childcare staff tomaintaina supportive, positive work environment
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and complete 24 hours of annual professional development
- Participate in monthlylead teacher meetingsto share best practices and enhanceourprogram
- Communicate effectively with both seasonal andyear roundco-teachers
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized classroom environment.
- Assistinmaintainingshared spaces
- Follow statechildcareregulations and Stratton Childcare Center policies
- Wear required protective equipment andparticipatein emergency drills and procedures
- Serve as a mandated reporter for suspected child abuse or neglect, following DCF guidelines
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE,SKILLAND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least20years of age
- Minimum 1 year of experience workingwith children Grade 3 or younger
- Must meet or exceed Vermont statequalifications forTeacher Associate
- Associates Degree in Early Childhood, Child Development or a related field; or
- Child Care Certificate from Community College of Vermont; or21 related collegecredits
- First Aid and CPR certification (or ability to obtainwithin 1 month of hire)
- Ability to lift 40lbsregularly and remain active throughout the day without scheduled breaks
- Comfortable working in a high-energy, sometimesloudenvironment
- Strong communicationskills and a collaborative team mindset
- Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoorchildcare settings
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
This position may be required to work weekends and holidays.
