Job summary

Stratton Childcare Center in Vermont is hiring Teaching Assistants to care for infants, toddlers and young children under a Teacher Associate, delivering safe, engaging activities and strong guest service.

This seasonal, full-time or part-time role requires Vermont teaching standards, a high school diploma, a CPR/First Aid certification, lifting 40 pounds, and flexibility for evenings, weekends or holidays.

Qualifications

• Must meet Vermont standards for Teaching Assistant position.
• First Aid & CPR Certification required.
• Desire to work closely with children in an educational and supervisory setting; some experience with children from newborn to six years old is a plus.
• Must be able to lift 40 pounds on a regular basis.
• Must be 18 years of age or older; may work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Interact with and encourage children in all activities while ensuring safety at all times.
• Follow curriculum as directed by the Teacher Associate; participate and encourage participation among children.
• Maintain a cooperative and supportive attitude with other staff and assist with daily tasks to keep the facility tidy.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions; complete 24 hours of professional development.
• Be a mandated reporter and report suspected abuse or neglect as required by DCF.

Must be able to provide excellent guest service by encouraging engagement among all children in the classroom, in addition to communicating with parents/guardians about their child’s experience during that given day. Assistants are responsible for addressing concerns of parents and guests and will work with a Teacher Associate and/or the Childcare Manager for resolution. The Teaching Assistant must maintain the facility in a healthy and safe working order, while observing all state mandated regulations. We have seasonal full time and part-time opportunities available for this role.
